Celebrating One Year as a Benefit Corporation for Good
We recently reflected on our work in the community and with nonprofits as a Benefit Corporation for Good. We are excited to share the successes we celebrated in 2023:
- Started and completed 45 searches and
- Made 47 temporary placements with nonprofits in the Pacific Northwest and several virtual organizations around the United States.
- Of the full-time placements, 21 were women and 11 were BIPOC candidates.
- Of the people placed in the last 2 years (our measure of success), the percentage of placements still in their position is 87.5%.
Placing this many people successfully is a challenge. As members of the Network of Nonprofit Search Consultants and the American Staffing Association, NPN continues to learn and acquire skills to support candidates’ longevity in organizations. To support these new placements, we’ve created additional post-onboarding supports through cohorts of BIPOC leaders, Executive Directors, and Development professionals.
Looking ahead at how we want to continue to support the nonprofit community, we’ll continue showcasing nonprofit-specific roles on our community job board, which reaches over 4000 professionals in the sector through emails, the job board website, and social media.
Another change we’re making is moving temporary services into a new company – A to Z Staffing, Inc. There are two reasons for this separation:
1. As hourly employees, the NPN corporate structure made it difficult to create a benefit plan for part-time employees serving in temporary roles that was affordable and accessible.
2. As the number of employees continues to grow in temporary staffing, NPN did not have enough internal HR support to meet the needs of our staff.
We are also expanding our temporary services offerings to include interim and fractional placements, this provides additional opportunities for career professionals to access roles with nonprofits.
